Regional Responsibility
Many forest farmers on one side and many buyers on the other – this characterizes the forestry and timber industry in Styria. The Styrian Forest Association assumes regional responsibility and, through its members, supplies regional timber buyers, sawmills, and numerous biomass heating plants. Particular emphasis is placed on market balance, which is influenced by many factors.

Balancing Function
In this dynamic, the Styrian Forest Association plays a special balancing role between forest farmers on the one hand and timber purchasing companies on the other. The intensive and direct contact between the Styrian Forest Association’s forest assistants and members enables rapid response to special market situations.

Supraregional Buyers
A massive oversupply of roundwood caused by disasters such as windthrow poses particular challenges for employees, officials, and forest workers. Coordinating processing, transport, and acceptance by the industry requires a comprehensive overview and places significant logistical demands on all stakeholders involved. Different specializations within the industry inevitably result in different prices for the same product range for different buyers.

Large quantities of wood, such as those marketed by the Styrian Forest Association, can be easily evaluated and are also meaningful. This can, of course, be used to draw conclusions about different classification methods. This can then be used to derive recommendations about which wood can generate corresponding revenues at which sawmill.
